After many funny discussions about starting up a website called ‘Prawnhub’ featuring quite mundane ‘prawno’ action, I set out to complete a couple of A1 sized illustrations which showcased a vast number of prawns randomly scattered across the artboard. I set out to do two versions, the first showed the prawns blue, as they are when happily swimming in the sea, the second showed them a nice coral pink colour, as you may better know them, lifeless on your plate.
Fifty Shades of Cray!
As a vegetarian it felt somewhat strange drawing up loads of little dead prawns but the potential characterisation emitting from the crossed out eyes with the vivid pink and reds used to paint them was a far to luring opportunity for me to pass up.
Since completing the illustration it has been mentioned a number of times that these designs would make awesome patterns for kitchen attire, teal towels, oven gloves etc… That I would like to see.
So here they are in all their glory, for those of you waiting for prawnhub to appear on the net, you may have to wait a bit longer, at least until the filming of ‘fifty shades of cray’ has wrapped up!
