Dead Funky is an emerging clothing brand with it’s roots in the house music scene. Dead Funky will be launching its debut clothing items in the very near future, keep those eyes peeled.
First and foremost, who hasn’t ever scribbled an acid face over their school desks or exercise books! As excited as I was to get going when this project come along I had to bear in mind that this face is seen almost everywhere so to make it stand out as a fresh new brand, I had to inject a bit of character.
Also, as a massive Nirvana fan, I wanted to steer clear of the wiggly mouthed, grunge face that become synonymous with their band/brand so a mixed message wasn’t being delivered.
The final design is slightly offset to the right to break the mould of the widely recognised version, the two colours are also offset to add more individuality and to give the impression of light hitting the left edge.
The logo lock-up is finished off with a brush font which has been adapted to make up the wires leading to the headphones. The symbol can be used on its own once the brand is more established, in the meantime, there are two different logo lockups to drive home the brand.
